    Wannabe developer needs direction

    Hi all,

I have been floating along in the IT industry wearing many, insignificant hats.  Now that I've been given SharePoint as a major project, I have been very excited about the potential it has for our company.

What gets me wound up is the ability to create/customize web parts.  I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PROGRAM THIS STUFF!  I have looked up stuff on the web, but it's just very confusing to me, not having any prior programming experience other than school courses.  Looks like C# is the language to go with, but I don't know how it plays with .NET, if it's a part of .NET....what it even means.

Would anyone offer me some guidance as to how to get started programming my own web parts, start to finish, using C#, and getting them implemented into the SharePoint environment?

     Thanks in advance!!!

    Eddie
