How to change default URL for MOSS

    Hello,

I have just installed a single server implementation of MOSS (Evaluation purpose) and the portal was created as  http://<localhostname>/pages/default.aspx.   I would like to change the URL to the name that I have reserved in DNS and I'm not sure how to do it.  I've played around with the Web Site properties in IIS but I was unsuccessful in changing the URL.  As well, I didn't see anywhere in the Application section of Central Administration where I can change that.   Any help at all with this would be deeply appreciated.

I have SPS experience (2yrs) and I have been researching MOSS 2007 for the migration.   All in all I have a good base knowledge of the overall system.  It's just little things like this that are putting up roadblocks to my success.

As I learn more I hope that I can contribute to this forum as it (msd2d) is the best SharePoint forum that I've found.

    Cheers,

    Steve
