I have created several folders in document library and I only want to show the content of 1 folder on a page. I use a filter but when I refresh the page the webpart starts to show all the content of the document libraby. I have tried adding a new column called catagory which displays all docs with a certain catagory. But each of my folders will have over 250 docs uploaded each months and the end user will have to put catagories to each doc with that. Right now they can just drag and drop files in the explorer view. I want an easy way for and ed user to create folders in a doc library and display info in each individual folder as they wish. Please help!!!

Create a New View for the document Library apply the filter and make this view as default view.

I'm just curious if anybody out there has figured out a way to filter document libraries for users who are not administrators?

I have a document library and a form the user fills out to filter the documents to just those that meet the criteria.  This works great for us admins, but for the poor average user, as soon as the code spView.Update is hit, they get Access Denied.

I've tried the old stand-by Impersonation (apparently Sharepoint is so secure that only admins can use it, unless you throw impersonation into every single web part), and even tried changing permissions on the fly.  But Impersonation doesn't work on spView.Update and the user doesn't have permission to change permissions.

Thanks to anyone that can relieve my frustration with Sharepoint!  btw I'm using Sharepoint 2003.
